No Any Need To Worry – Get Botox Injections For Those Wrinkles

As you age wrinkles appear.

But who would not like to get rid of them?

Turning back the clock and revisiting that youthful glow is not necessarily a distant dream.

You can get rid of those unsightly lines or even delay the formation of new lines.

You now have Botox, an FDA approved treatment to get rid of crow’s feet, frown lines and forehead lines.

What is Botox?

It is an injectable neuromodulator that slackens your facial muscles for short term. It softens the looks of your face.

According to a doctor who has expertise with botox in Maryland, “Botulinum toxin injection is the most frequently performed cosmetic procedure in the United States because patients find it the most effective”.

Botox or Botulinum toxin is not something new. It has been in use for decades for the treatment of a variety of conditions including dystonia, spasticity, migraine and more.

But now it is extremely popular for aesthetic treatment of the face.

The chief advantages patients experience include:

  • It is quick and painless. It is not uncommon for the injections to take as little as 5 minutes’ time.
  • There is no downtime.
  • It has established itself as the gold standard for erasing facial wrinkles.
  • If the procedure is done in the right manner, your face will look natural. In patient reviews, it has the highest ratings.

Yet, the procedure has its downsides.

  • The results are not forever. You may need to go back to your doctor for a redo.
  • You may experience bruising, which can last up to a week.
  • A bad job can show undesirable results such as droopy eyelids. The best bet therefore is to get treated by an experienced and licensed injector.
  • If by chance a version of botox is used that has not been purified or approved for use it can result in serious medical emergency.
  • It is not recommended for pregnant women or those who are breastfeeding or planning to get pregnant soon.

Patient selection is vital because not all are suitable candidates for botox injections.

According to a cosmetic surgeon who specializes in botox facial injection in Baltimore MD, “Individuals with dynamic wrinkles demonstrate the best outcomes. So I consider them the most ideal candidates”.

However, he does not discourage patients with static wrinkles. “Results are good but slower”, he says. “Patients may need two or three consecutive treatments for complete elimination of facial lines”.

Static wrinkles are wrinkles that are visible at rest.

On an overall basis, cosmetic surgeons are of the view that botox is well tolerated by most people.

“The patient must not be hypersensitive to any Botulin toxin or any of the ingredients in the injection”, says a Maryland based cosmetic surgeon.

Botox injection is also not for those having neuromuscular issues like multiple sclerosis or myasthenia gravis.

Risks are rare. But you may experience breathing or swallowing problems if the job is done by an injector who is not accredited or skilled.

Ideally, you must find a qualified injector with proven experience.
